Alzheimer’s Society Christmas tree fills up with memories

Published 17 December 2010

This year, the Christmas tree in reception at Alzheimer’s Society’s central office in London has been decorated with memories of loved ones.

christmasFor many people, the time when families gather at the festive season is especially poignant as thoughts turn to those who are no longer with us. Every star on our Christmas tree holds a special memory of a loved one or absent friend and has been sent by a supporter, volunteer or member of Alzheimer's Society staff.

Over 500 stars have been returned to central office and, once the tree is full, strings of Christmas memory stars will be festooning the desks of those working in the office over the holiday period.

Each year, Alzheimer's Society receives thousands of donations in memory, which help to fund research and to provide vital services for people still living with dementia, their families and those who care for them.

The Christmas tree is bringing much festive spirit to everyone who visits Alzheimer's Society's central office and the 'in memory' team is very grateful to everyone who has sent in a star and a memory this Christmas.
