Top marks for student fundraising project

Post graduate students in London scored top marks for raising more than £13,000 for Alzheimer's Society as part of an event management fundraising project.
A group of 24 event management students were given just a few weeks and a £1,000 budget to organise an event with the aim of raising £4,000 for a charity.
Led by project managers Hilary Davis and Nour Ayas the Event Management Limited students chose Alzheimer's Society as their charity of choice. To raise awareness of both the charity and Alzheimer's disease the group chose to give the event a riddle theme, calling it 'Riddle me this'.
Hilary Davis says,
'We decided to use this theme because of the relevance of keeping your brain active and working and challenging the mind. So we had a riddler on the door asking people questions with the aim of trying to challenge people's brains.'
The event took place on 24 November at the Embassy Club in Mayfair and featured a live band, an auction, a raffle and a DJ set. Around 280 people attended. The auctioned items included a Christian Louboutin clutch bag and a signed photograph of the England's World Cup winning team of 1966.
Jen Mosley, Alzheimer Society's Area Fundraising Manager for London, attended the event. She said,
'It was great to be invited along to say a few words and I could see first-hand how hard the group had worked to put on such a professional event.
'Thanks to their efforts they raised an astonishing £13,200 for Alzheimer's Society and I would give them top marks all round. The event really helped raise interest in Alzheimer's Society and all the guests were extremely generous when purchasing the fabulous auction items.'
