Celebrities line up to support Seasalt's Go Knit! campaign

Published 11 November 2010

The stars are lining up to support this year’s charity knitting campaign, Go Knit!, run by well-known coastal clothing brand Seasalt.

This Morning's Ruth Langsford, TV & Radio 2 Presenter Melanie Sykes, celebrity hairstylist, Nicky Clarke, and celebrity stylist, John Scott, have all pledged their support for the campaign which this year is raising money for the Alzheimer's Society.

The cause is particularly close to Ruth Langsford's heart:

'My father has Alzheimer's disease so my family has experienced the impact of dementia first hand. Alzheimer's Society supports people to live well with dementia today and funds research to find a cure for tomorrow. Go Knit! can make a real difference to the lives of local people affected by dementia.'

As an ambassador for Alzheimer's Society Ruth fundraises and speaks about the effect the disease had on her own family to give others support.

Over the last few weeks, knitters from near and far have created hundreds of knitted Christmas decorations in all shapes and sizes and colours.  Go Knit! co-ordinator, Helen Rowe, said

'We've been so overwhelmed by how generous people have been with their time and skills to knit all these wonderful decorations. A huge thanks must go to all those knitters who took part because without them, Go Knit! just couldn't happen. We're really excited that the decorations are now going on sale and we're thrilled to have Ruth, Mel, Nicky and John's support to help raise the profile of the campaign so we can raise as much money as possible for the Alzheimer's Society.'

Go Knit! decorations are now on sale in selected Seasalt stores and on their website www.seasaltcornwall.co.uk. The sale of the decorations will be in a lucky dip style so who knows if you'll a stocking, an angel, a bauble, or a cracker! This could be a fun gift idea for Christmas as well as supporting a worthy cause.
