The Society's communications team has been given a Gold Award by leading industry publication PR Week.
The communications team, which includes staff and volunteers from across our regions and counties, was awarded the title of Non-Profit Department of the Year at a ceremony attended by some 1,500 public relations professionals.
Standing out amongst tough competition such as The National Trust, Kew Gardens and Cancer Research UK, our team was chosen for the way in which they 'set out to propel dementia up the public and political agenda ahead of the UK general election.'
Achievements highlighted as part of the awards citation included the publication of Counting the Cost and This is Me, our work with celebrity supporters such as Terry Pratchett, our partnerships with Bupa and This Morning and the media coverage that we have achieved across print and broadcast channels.
Commenting on the award, Senior Press Officer Hannah Clack said,
In addition to our team's Gold Award, the Living Well With Dementia campaign (which the Society worked on in partnership with the Department of Health and the COI) was also highly commended.'This is fantastic news for the Society and it recognises the hard work of many individuals and teams. As well as being very proud of my colleagues I am hugely grateful to all of the campaigners, fundraisers and spokespeople who have responded to our requests and helped us to build such a strong profile for people living with dementia.'
