Congratulations to Tish Tucker on her parachute jump

Published 30 July 2010

Tish Tucker

Tish Tucker has raised the incredible amount of £1835 for Alzheimer’s Society by taking part in a tandem parachute jump.

She did her jump on 4 June 2010 at Chatteris Airfield in Cambridgeshire and jumped from over 10,000 feet high. Tish paid for all her jump expenses so that every penny collected went to Alzheimer's Society.

Tish says "My mother had Alzheimer's Disease and moved to Canada at the age of 70, to be with my sister and her family. They cared for her right through her illness until the very end.

The number of people with dementia is rising rapidly, and yet research in this field is tiny in proportion to other conditions. I wanted to do something to help raise both money and awareness of this horrible disease. Even if it was in a small way, every little helps the Society.

The parachute jump went really well! The weather was brilliant, and I amazed myself by actually enjoying it, even though there were a couple of moments when I was a little scared. It took me longer to land than everyone else, I think because I'm only 4feet 11inches tall - one of the very few benefits I have encountered being short!

I would like to thank all those kind and caring people who contributed to help me raise £1835 for Alzheimer's Society."

Alzheimer's Society would like to congratulate Tish on completing her skydive, and thank her for all the hard work she put into her fundraising. She should be really proud of the fantastic amount she has raised, as the funds will really help the Society to continue its fight against dementia.
