Dementia and sight loss interest group

Published 21 July 2010

In 2008, Alzheimer's Society in partnership with the RNIB and Thomas Pocklington Trust formed the Dementia and Sight Loss Interest Group.

Carer with person with dementiaIt was felt that there was a real need to raise more awareness about the particular difficulties faced by people affected by dementia and problems with vision and visual perception. The Group aims to encourage dementia policies and practice to address sight loss and to make the most of vision, as well as to support the development and delivery of services for people with dementia and sight loss.  As part of  National Eye Health Week (14-20 June 2010), we launched our own network page on the website of VISION 2020 UK.

If you would like to join our online Interest Group, please visit www.vision2020uk.org.uk, click on Interest/Workgroups & Committees.  As the Interest Group matures, more documentation will be added and we hope that any interested parties will email us items that we can include on the site, such as relevant links or research papers.
