5,000 mile coastal cycle around Britain for Alzheimer's Society

Published 26 April 2010

Phil Swanston will be taking on the mammoth challenge of cycling 5,000 miles along the entire coastland of mainland Britain.

Phil Swanston lives and works in Old Oxted, Surrey, where he is employed as a bar manager in the popular Crown Inn.

Leaving on the 5 June 2010 Phil who lives and works in Old Oxted said,

'I have had personal experience of the devastating effects of Alzheimer's as my mother was diagnosed with this cruel disease over six years ago.

I will be covering an average of 65 miles per day for three months to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society, solo and unsupported.

Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading care and research charity for people with dementia. I am hoping that by raising money for them, more support can be provided as well aiding the Society in its search for a cure.'

Phil hopes to raise over £20,000 over the course of his journey. He is consequently looking for sponsorship from individuals and from companies.

Phil is trying to find accommodation on his trip.  Should anyone know of friends or family living on, or near the coast, who could possibly provide a night's accommodation it would be very much appreciated.

Phil has a web site at www.5000miles.co.uk  plus a Facebook Group.

To sponsor Phil please use his online donation site at www.justgiving.co.uk/Phil-Swanston  or if you prefer please ring 07977 157 476 and speak to him directly.
