Principality raise a princely sum for the Alzheimer’s Society!

Principality Building Society have selected the Alzheimer’s Society as their charity of the year.

principality workersThey intend to raise tens of thousands of pounds to fund and support dementia care and research. They are already well on their way to reaching the £50,000 target they have set, by raising £40,000 through their AGM vote.

As a mutual society - and proud of it - Principality are committed to engaging their members in the decision making process through their annual general meeting. In order to encourage people to vote, Principality gave their members the additional incentive that for each vote cast, £1 would be donated to the Alzheimer's Society. Almost 40,000 votes were cast, raising an astonishing £40,000 for the Society.

Peter Griffiths, chief executive of Principality Building Society, said:

'As a mutual society we are governed by the people who hold mortgages or savings accounts with us. I am delighted that so many of our members used their vote, helping us to raise £40,000 to help support the Alzheimer's Society.'

Neil Hunt, chief executive of the Alzheimer's Society, said:

'Thanks to the generosity of Principality and all their customers, this record amount of money will help thousands of people with dementia and their carers.'

Fiona Phillips, a patron of the Alzheimer's Society was delighted to receive the £40,000 cheque on behalf of the Society, from Principality Company Secretary, Haydn Warman.
