Alzheimer's photography exhibition opens today in London

Published 1 April 2010

Judith Fox's husband, Dr Edmund Ackell, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's over 12 years ago. Her photography exhibition show intimate portraits of her husband which begin in the year of his diagnosis.

I Still Do: Loving and Living with Alzheimer's is now showing at the The Gallery, Cork Street, Mayfair London until Saturday 3 April. Judith has also written a book ' I still do' based on her experiences of looking after her husband.

Judith Fox says, (taken from The Gallery in Cork Street website)

'One of the ways I see my world more clearly is through my photography. Photographing my husband has been an intimate and loving process, as well as a way of keeping him close as he was leaving me. My husband and I were partners on 'I Still Do' book. Ed was not only my muse and cheerleader throughout the making of the book but, because of his willingness to put a face in front of the statistics, hes helped humanise an illness that has been in the closet for too many years.

This pictorial tribute to her husband provides a rare insight dealing with issues that face all of us - loving, aging, humour, trust and mortality - as well as living with Alzheimers. The visual portrayal of the disease embraces the reality of loving a spouse who is no longer able to remember.'
