Alzhiemer's Society comment on the Care and Support conference

Published 22 February 2010

The Health Secretary, Andy Burnham, today held a conference discussing long-term care and support for older people.

Ruth Sutherland, Acting Chief Executive, Alzheimer's Society attended the conference.

Alzheimer's Society comment,

'Transforming the crumbling system of who pays for care into one which is transparent, sustainable and fair is a challenge. It cannot be achieved without widespread consensus and today was an important contribution towards this goal.

'Hundreds of thousands of people with dementia are the significant losers under the current charging system. It is imperative that all political parties work towards a new system that delivers quality care for all.'
