There's no business like snow business - Company sells snow on eBay to support Alzheimer’s Society

Published 22 January 2010

Ian and Jim Gaffney run the One Planet mountain biking centre at Coed Llandegla, which is 11,000 feet up on the moors and has been snowbound and unable to open since December 20 2009.

In one of their many idle moments waiting for the weather to warm up, they decided to have a bit of fun by offering their abundance of snow for sale on eBay.

This is their enticing eBay advert that really sold the snow.

'We are offering for sale 1 x car park worth of snow. This once in a lifetime offer to buy yourself a winter wonderland worth of snow. Ever fancied building the world's biggest snowman - Well with this amount of snow you could! (Carrot and coal not included in sale) Love sledging - but don't have any snow - Have ours! Treat the one you love to a lapland holiday from the comfort of their own home! Fed up of colleagues not coming to work because they are snowed in - well why not join them and snow yourself in! The snow is unused and in perfect condition. This offer won't last forever - Well we hope not anyway. Viewing is welcomed - If you can get here that is. The snow is being stored at Coed Llandegla. We are selling the snow as we no longer have room to store it. There is no reserve on this item - But we must stress that payment will be cash on collection, no delivery offered.

Congratulations to Ian and Jim for such an orginal fundraising idea and raising a fantastic £60 to support our fight against dementia.

If you have anything lying around that you would like to get rid of, please visit our eBay page to find out how you can sell and support Alzheimer's Society.
