15 year old Charlotte Hurst climbed Ben Nevis in support of the Alzheimer's Society

Published 10 December 2009

15 year old Charlotte Hurst from Leicestershire climbed more than 4,000ft to the summit of Ben Nevis, in Scotland.

Charlotte climbed with her dad, two brothers and sister-in-law to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society as it supports her two grandmothers.

Charlotte, who goes to English Martyrs School, Leicester, said:

"It's been really hard on the whole family watching them deteriorate. I hope that by raising funds for the Alzheimer's Society more support can be provided for carers as well as allowing the society to continue searching for a cure"

Ben Nevis, near Fort William, is the highest mountain in the British Isles, at 4,409 ft and in conquering it Charlotte raised an amazing £455.20 for the Alzheimer's Society. She is pictured here with her parents, members of her local church and Liz Thornton (Community Fundraiser East Midlands) at a cheque presentation that took place at her school.
