Tara Flynn lends her support to Alzheimer's Society by running the ING New York City Marathon

Published 20 October 2009

Irish actress and comedian, Tara Flynn, will be making an appearance on Broadway next month - taking part in the ING New York City Marathon to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society.

Tara, best known for her TV characters in Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle, The Omid Djalili Show and cast member on Thank God You're Here, is running through the streets of New York to raise funds and awareness of dementia, having seen its devastating effects first hand.

Tara Flynn says,

'When it came time to pick a charity for whom to run the ING New York City Marathon, there really was no competition.

Having observed the terrible effects of dementia on sufferers and their carers within my own family, Alzheimer's Society was my first choice.

They do such amazing work in terms of research, support and awareness - I can't think of an organisation I'd rather sustain exhaustion and blisters for!'

Tara is keeping her fans amused and updated on her training by posting regular blogs on her website and you can also follow her progress on Twitter.

If you would like to make a donation please visit Tara's JustGiving page.

Good luck Tara!
