Make a difference, become a volunteer

Volunteers make a vital contribution at every level of the Society. We value their dedication and enthusiasm in supporting people affected by dementia.
Behind the scenes volunteers raise significant amounts of money, they advise on our research priorities and support us with administration and campaigning issues, all dedicated to leading the fight against dementia.
Volunteers' Week takes place from 1 to 7 June each year and, during this week, a number of events take place to celebrate volunteering.
One such event was at Central Lancashire branch, where an Open Day was hosted on 3 June. Certificates were presented to a number of volunteers, in recognition of their valued support.

Sheila Barton, Head of Volunteer Development, said,
'Volunteers' Week is an important annual event in the volunteering calendar. While recognising volunteers takes place throughout the year, this particular week allows the whole UK voluntary sector to join forces in thanking volunteers for their support wherever it takes place. As always, we are delighted to take part.
Alzheimer's Society benefits immensely from the contribution of volunteers, at all levels. With demand for our services set to grow, the Society is working hard to attract and support more volunteers than ever. We are so grateful to all our existing volunteers - people that already understand the importance of what we do. We are also confident that we can be the voluntary organisation of choice for many more volunteers, in the months and years to come.'
