Kilimanjaro group make it to the top despite rain, snow and sleet

Published 9 February 2009

Mount Kilimanjaro

The latest group to summit Mount Kilimanjaro for Alzheimer's Society are now safely back home after an incredibly tough challenge due to bad weather conditions.

The group battled through rain, wind and snow with a number of people suffering from altitude sickness. Despite these setbacks a record 31 out of 32 made it to the summit, with everyone finishing at high camp at Barafu.

Andy Sallnow, the charity representative with the group said,
'This was a fantastic group that put a lot of hard work into overcoming all obstacles thrown at them to achieve a truly amazing feat.

Everyone's positive spirits created an incredibly supportive atmosphere throughout the trek.'
The group has raised in excess of £100,000 with more sponsorship money still to come in. A big thank you to everyone involved in this incredible challenge.
