Enjoy your lunch and help a good cause

Published 23 January 2009

River Café, a beautiful restaurant by the River Thames in Hammersmith, is promoting a winter set lunch menu with proceeds supporting the Hammersmith and Fulham branch of Alzheimer's Society.

River Cafe restaurantRiver Café and local Mayor Andrew Johnson, were keen to tie up the promotion to Alzheimer's Society and give something back to the local community.

Councillor Andrew Johnson said:

'I chose the Alzheimer's Society as the charity for my mayoral year for two principle reasons. Namely from personal experience of the condition from having two grandparents (maternal grandfather and paternal grandmother) and seeing first hand just how debilitating the illness can be and the effect that it has on both carers and suffers.
Also from the need to highlight a condition which is becoming more prevalent in the older population within the United Kingdom and within the Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. Our branch of the Alzheimer's Society, based at St Vincents, Queen Caroline Street, provides invaluable assistance to people with dementia and their carers and I am proud to be supporting them during my term in office.'
Charles Pullan, Restaurant Manager of River Café said:
'We very much hope that in these winter months we will have the opportunity to welcome many new guests to our restaurant to enjoy a very reasonably priced lunch and in the process raise some money for a worthwhile charity.'
