Singer and actor Bernie Nolan has confirmed that she is joining the Bupa Great South Run to raise money for the Society. The 10-mile marathon will take place in Portsmouth on the 25 October 2009.

'No one can explain the stress and devastation Alzheimer's causes, not only for the person diagnosed but possibly more so for the families of people with Alzheimer's and any form of dementia.
Your support through the Bupa Great Run Series will be an enormous boost to Alzheimer's Society. It will help to gain much needed funds, which will go towards our constant struggle to give people affected by dementia and their carers the support and access to treatment they so desperately need.'
Bernie was the lead singer with The Nolans and she is also a successful actress, having appeared as Diane Murray in Brookside on Channel 4 and then as Sergeant Sheelagh Murphy in ITV's long running police series 'The Bill'.
