Alzheimer's Society shortlisted for Morrisons' Charity of the Year 2009
Published 18 November 2008
We are delighted to have been shortlisted for Morrisons' Charity of the Year 2009.
A Charity of the Year partnership would involve a year of fundraising events across Morrisons' stores nationwide, aiming to raise approximately £1.5million. This partnership will make a huge difference to the thousands of people living with dementia - it could:
- Fund vital local services that provide practical and emotional support to thousands of people with dementia around the UK.
- Fund our national dementia helpline providing information and advice to people facing the challenge of living with dementia.
- Fund research into the cause, cure and care of Alzheimer's disease.
If you know anyone who works at Morrisons please encourage them to vote for Alzheimer's Society.
Einir Mason, Assistant Manager, Morrisons Bangor.
Einir's grandmother, Catherine, had Alzheimer's disease.

'I was in my teens when my grandmother first got dementia. It was hard for me because she had been such a big part of my life. And it was really hard on my Granddad too. When the person you've been married to for 50 years doesn't recognise you any more, that must be awful.
If I could tell my colleagues at Morrisons one thing about dementia, I'd tell them that it can happen to anyone. It can happen to you and to someone you love.'
Our vision is of a radically improved world for people with dementia. A world, ultimately where dementia can be defeated. Please help us achieve this.
