Over the weekend record crowds gathered in Liverpool city centre for the Lord Mayor’s Parade.
Each year the parade gives a variety of charities the opportunity to raise their profile, by entering the parade and benefiting from funds raised by the Lord Mayor Appeal Fund.
Alzheimer's Society, Liverpool & South Sefton branch, were one of the chosen charities and won the 'Best overall parade entry' which is a fantastic achievement, as there were over 68 floats who participated in the biggest ever parade.
Young volunteer dancers from Liverpool's Dolphin Dance Studio represented the Alzheimer's Society parade entry, putting on a fantastic performance, communicating the important message of dementia with their dynamic energy.
There were also a number of volunteers on the day from the Liverpool and South Sefton branch collecting money and helping to raise the profile of the charity.
Newly appointed Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Cllr Stev
e Rotheram said:
It was an unbelievable honour to ride in the coach heading the parade. I was pleased that that overall winner was Alzheimer's Society.
It was especially poignant for me because my mother died of Alzheimer's disease, so it's a cause close to my heart.
