Alzheimer's Society comment on the SenseCam

Published 28 November 2007

Response to the SenseCam developed by Microsoft

'Many people with memory problems find aids such as diaries can offer psychological benefits. This new camera could potentially act in the same way although practically it needs to be very simple to operate and time would need to be set aside to select and store the images.

'Some people who feel a camera might not suit their lifestyle, could try using more traditional aids like diaries and lists. Keeping to a routine and always putting things in the same place can also help.

'Assistive technology is an exciting area of research. We look forward to the development of many more tools that empower people with dementia to have the quality of life they deserve.'

People who are worried about their memory should contact the Alzheimer's Society on 0845 3000 336.
