An amazing fundraising year from the staff at Parkview Veterinary Clinic who raised money for Alzheimer's Society

Published 9 January 2013

A huge thank you to our Srabane supporters Linda Lafferty, Florence Robinson, Andrea McShane, Nicola McShane and Adrian Devine who have been fundraising for Alzheimer's Society throughout 2012.

On Wednesday 7 November at the Parkview Veterinary Clinic a couple of our supporters presented fundraising volunteer, Mr John Hall and Strabane Dementia Support Worker, Fiona Brown, with a cheque for £2,075.

Our Strabane supporters, Florence, Andrea, Nicola and Adrian were very active last year organising lots of different fundraising events in aid of Alzheimer's Society. They ran as a relay team at the Moo-a-thon in Kilmacrennan, Letterkenny and the Dublin Marathon, while Linda completed both events. They also organised a variety of their own events and took part in a speed eating night.

The speed eating night was held in the Strabane Cricket Club.  Alan played the music and Florence created the dishes. The menu included cold beans with tooth picks, pickled eggs, chilli jelly, garlic custard, curried cheesecake, wasabi nuts, dry crackers and many other bizarre delicacies.  A raffle was held and prizes were donated by many local shops.

Linda and Florence said;

'We decided to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society as many people have family members that are suffering from it.'

If you would like to get involved in fundraising in your local area we have lots of ideas for fundraising individually or there are many events that you can sign up to. All funds raised will go towards supporting Alzheimer's Society fulfill our ambition of a world without dementia.
