Headington Prep School bring in their bling for Alzheimer's Society!
Published 5 December 2012
Headington Prep School students are celebrating an outstanding year of fundraising after coming up with a variety of innovative ideas in order to raise a fantastic £6,605 for Alzheimer's Society.
After electing Alzheimer's Society as their charity of the year 2011-12, pupils of Headington Preparatory School in Oxford worked hard to raise this significant sum by carrying out activities such as 'bring in your bling' where pupils asked for donations for their old jewellery, cake sales and a sponsored read.
The donation was kindly presented to Jeannie Pyle, Support Services Manager for Alzheimer's Society, by some of the pupils earlier this year. Jeannie said
'Our cause really captured the imagination of both pupils and teachers, resulting in some wonderful fundraising events and an incredible amount of money raised in the fight against dementia.
'Dementia is more than just memory loss; it robs people of their lives and has a devastating impact on families and loved ones. As a charity, we rely on the generosity and support of community groups and schools such as Headington Preparatory School to help us continue our vital work championing the rights of people living with dementia and the millions who care for them.'
