Published 23 November 2012

A volunteer fundraising group based in Cwmfelinfach in South Wales have held a series of successful fundraising events raising money for charities, including Alzheimer's Society.

This year Alzheimer's Society have been fortunate to receive the support of a group of enthusiastic and passionate fundraisers in Cwmfelinfach. They have organised a number of events over the year which culminated in a cheque presentation for £1,050 in November with more money to follow in future.

The group, led by Karen Jones (pictured with her family in full fundraising fancy dress) meet every week to plan their activities and hold a fundraising event every month. Over the course of the last 12 months they have held some fantastic events including a duck race and a fancy dress sponsored walk.

Alzheimer's Society Community Fundraiser Aimee Hopkins paid tribute to the efforts of Karen and her group:

'Alzheimer's Society relies on groups of inspiring and committed people like this to raise funds to support the invaluable work that we do in Wales supporting people with dementia and their carers -  Thankyou to all involved for your hard work!'
