A charity ballot has raised an amazing £3,100 for people living with dementia.

Richard Gililand, a fundraising volunteer, is pictured here receiving a big cheque for £3,100 from Shauna Broderick, NI Travel News. The total was raised at the glittering 21st Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism Awards, where guests gave generously in the charity ballot.

Asked as to why NI Travel News chose the Society, Shauna says,

'Our boss Mr Brian Ogle's mother passed away at the end of last year after being diagnosed with vascular dementia and several of our colleagues within the industry have also been affected by the illness. On a personal level a close friend of my mother also passed away a month before the event after suffering with dementia for a long time.'

If you would like to get involved in fundraising in your local area we have lots of ideas for fundraising individually or there are many events that you can sign up to. All funds raised will go towards supporting Alzheimer's Society fulfill our ambition of a world without dementia.
