Cedar Court Care Home Balloon Release

Cedar Court Care Home in Cranleigh Surrey have for the last three years marked 21 September, World Alzheimer's Day, with a sponsored balloon release and a tea for residents and their families. This year they were delighted to have HRH Princess Alexandra as their guest of honour.

The Princess was introduced to guests from the local community which included the local GPs, the Chair of Surrey County Council, leading local business and third sector representatives and also Alzheimer's Society's Community Fundraiser for Surrey, Anita Avery.

The balloon release was sponsored by families and carers with each balloon having a personalised label attached to it. The total raised from this fantastic event was £1800.

Balloons have since been found and reported back from as far a-field as Holland and Austria. 

Well done to the staff of Cedar Court Care Home and the Royal Household for making World Alzheimer's Day not only enjoyable but significant, not only in Surrey but also Europe.
