Bagpipes lead Banbury Memory Walk

More than 60 people took part in a Memory Walk through Banbury to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Society.

The annual event, which in now in its sixth year, took place on Saturday 29 September and a procession set off on a circular route from Banbury Cross heading along High Street, Market Place and Parsons Street. Accomplished bagpiper Steve Duffy, a Banbury police officer, also accompanied the walkers on the route.

Francis Claydon of Alzheimer's Society, said:

'The sound of the bagpipes and the sight of so many people walking proudly through town was hugely uplifting. It was an absolutely fantastic event for people with dementia and their families and lots of people turned up to support it.'

The event saw people with dementia and their carers walk through the town, aiming to raise awareness. Alzheimer's Society is the leading support and research charity for people with dementia, carers and their families. There are 800,000 people living in the country with the condition.
