Pilot projects have started in Warwickshire and Dorset which aim to increase dementia diagnosis rates.
In Dorset and Warwickshire pilot projects have begun which aim to increase diagnosis rates of dementia. This is part of Alzheimer's Society's Early Diagnosis campaign.
Despite growing national interest in dementia, diagnosis rates remain shockingly low.
Without a diagnosis, people are denied access support, information and potential treatments which can help them to live well.
Activity will include:
- Public awareness raising, using materials from our Worried about your memory? campaign
- Health professional engagement
- Key stakeholder engagement
- Targeted local media and marketing work
The projects will run until March 2013. Their evaluation will create a framework for future local awareness raising, and will provide evidence for the development of Alzheimer's Society's national Early Diagnosis campaign.
