Wizard of Oz star Sophie Evans is to set more than 400 people on their way along their own yellow brick road on Sunday (16 September) in Cardiff.
Spellbinding Sophie, from Tonypandy, played Dorothy after stepping into the spotlight on BBC's Over the Rainbow.
Sophie said:
'It's wonderful to be back in Wales to support such a great cause helping to provide much needed services for carers and people living with dementia.
'Anyone can sign up to take part on the day so I hope even more people come and say hello and dust off their ruby slippers - or trainers - for a walk in the park!'
Sophie, who is 19, had a three year association with the Lord Lloyd Webber show and has just completed her run in the lead role.
There is a choice of 3.5km and 12km walks in the event which raises money for vital Alzheimer's Society services across Wales.
An opportunity is also on offer to go a step further by doing Bupa's Memory Mile - an extra mile going past Cardiff Castle - for which the company will donate a further £5 for each and every walker.
Rhodri Davies, Alzheimer's Society Area Fundraiser, said:
'We really appreciate Sophie spreading some stardust along our walk and showing there really is no place like home!
'More than 44,000 people live with dementia across Wales and Cardiff Memory Walk is vital in raising funds and awareness.
'It promises to be a great day for all the family, with everything from a balloon artist to glass blowing, as well as marvelous music and a very special choir.'
People are able to register on the day to take part and can find out more at memorywalk.org.uk, or call 02920 480315.
Alzheimer's Society supporter Mayor of Tredegar Cllr Bernard Willis, who has raised £7,000 for the charity over the past year, is providing another bonus on the day
He will be presenting a rugby ball signed by the Wales 2012 Six Nations Grand Slam winning team to be given to the person who raises the most money from the walk.
Memory Walk 2012 is being held in partnership with Bupa Care Homes. Together, Alzheimer's Society and Bupa aim to support more people living with dementia through the vital funds that are raised.
Alzheimer's Society offers a wide range services in Cardiff and across Wales including support for carers and people with dementia, dementia cafes, a telephone helpline, activities, specialist help for younger people with dementia, befriending and respite care.
