Remember a Charity Week - Will you remember us in your Will?

Alzheimer's Society is joining with over 140 charities to promote Remember a Charity Week.
Remember a Charity Week, 17 - 23 September 2012, aims to highlight the importance of gifts left to charities in Wills. Charitable donations in Wills are the foundation of many of Britain's charities, creating nearly £2 billion each year, the equivalent of 25 Comic Reliefs. Without this income most charities' services would suffer; others would simply not exist.
Melanie Adams, Legacy & Remembrance Giving Development Manager at Alzheimer's Society said,
'We rely on the generosity of people remembering us in their Wills. Many people in the UK don't realise that they can give money to charities like Alzheimer's Society in this way. But the truth is, after looking after family and friends, a small share of whatever is left can make a real difference us and the work we are doing to support people with dementia.'
A Bristol day support service for younger people with dementia is one of 10 charities in the UK to be awarded a yellow plaque as part of a new national scheme to recognise the huge contribution made by people who leave gifts to charity in their Wills. A plaque was awarded to Alzheimer's Society for the Limes Day Support Service in Kingswood, Bristol.
