Dani and Abi Edwards, sisters from Burntwood in Staffordshire, held 'Ball for Boing' in memory of their wonderful Grandfather 'Boing' and raised a fanastic £1095.59 for Alzheimer's Society.

On 14 July 2012 the two young sisters from Burntwood saw their months of hard work and dedication pay off when they hosted a black tie evening in memory of their beloved Grandfather 'Boing'.

Dani and Abi Edwards started volunteering for Alzheimer's Society after they took part in Tamworth Memory Walk in October 2011. They raised a staggering £600 for the Memory Walk and decided that they wanted to do more. Since then they have thrown themselves into volunteering, helping out with local street collections and even modelling for a Tesco fundraiser early in 2012.

Very early on they decided that they wanted to put on an event in memory of their grandfather and quickly decided on hosting a ball at St. Matthew's Sports and Social Club in Burntwood. Their grandfather was a well respected member of the community and they quickly found support from local stores putting collection tins out to help raise funds and local businesses donating wonderful prizes for the raffle on the evening. There was a host of entertainment on the evening from a fantastic raffle, kids entertainer, sweet buffet and dancing late in to the night! It was an emotional evening with a minute's applause carried out to remember 'Boing'.

Emily Weighill, Community Fundraiser said

'We are so grateful to Dani and Abi for all of their hard work in staging this wonderful event. They are both extremely committed to the cause and want to make a difference to the lives of people affected by dementia. I am very much looking forward to continuing to work with them on future fundraising events.'

These remarkable sisters should be so very proud after raising £1095.59 from the evening and we can't thank them enough for their continued dedication and enthusiasm about the work of Alzheimer's Society.
