Actor crosses the finish line for Alzheimer's Society

Published 31 May 2012

Shaun Dooley

Actor Shaun Dooley completed the Bupa London 10,000 at the weekend to raise awareness of dementia.

Shaun, who starred in the recent BBC adaption of Great Expectations and the film, The Woman in Black, completed the race in less than hour alongside fellow actor Nigel Whitmey and his brother-in-law, Sam.

The race, which was won by world champion, Mo Farah, took in the sites of London and will be the route for this year's Olympic Marathon.

Shaun became involved with Alzheimer's Society after starring in the acclaimed drama, Exile, which starred Jim Broadbent as a man living with dementia.

Shaun said:

'It was an honour to run for Alzheimer's Society in the Bupa London 10,000. Despite the heat, it was a fantastic day and a privilege to run alongside so many other runners raising funds for a cause close to their heart as well as the hugely talented Mo Farah.

I'm delighted to have contributed to raising awareness of dementia and want to thank everyone who ran for Alzheimer's Society. The money raised will help people to live well with dementia today and help fund vital research to find a cure for tomorrow.'
