Alzheimer's Society comment on DH Information Strategy

Among the issues discussed within the strategy are new online services such as booking general practitioner appointments, access to records online, and a new integrated national website. It also looks at how different services can better 'talk' to each other.

Alzheimer's Society comment:

'Choice and control must be at the heart of the changes that are being proposed for the NHS. Harnessing the power of the internet to help could be a useful step. However we need to make sure this doesn't exclude people - including people with dementia - who may not be able to use computers. The information revolution has to benefit everyone.

'People with dementia are some of the worst affected by the existing problems surrounding the postcode lottery of care and poor integration between health and social care services. If we are to improve access and information, it is vital we close these gaps and ensure people can get the care they need at the time they need it wherever they live.'
