Tackling dementia:live discussion today on the Guardian website
Published 18 April 2012
Following the launch of our Dementia 2012 report last month the Guardian will be hosting a live discussion on their website from midday today.
Dementia 2012: A National Challenge highlights new evidence on the experiences of people with dementia, and pulls together existing evidence, statistics and policy from a range of sources.
The live discussion on the Guardian website today will focus on some of David Cameron's proposals about how to tackle dementia. Head of Policy George McNamara will be speaking on behalf of Alzheimer's Society and Alistair Burns National Clinical Director of dementia will be discussing how to tackle dementia with a host of participants.
Topics that will be covered include:
- Is dementia currently being diagnosed properly? How can it be recognised earlier?
- How can the healthcare system and services be better designed for people with dementia?
- Is there enough understanding or public awareness about dementia?
- Is better dementia training required for staff in the NHS?
- Is there enough community support for people with dementia? (ie. dementia cafes etc?)
You can put your questions to the panel or tweet your question to @GdnHealthcare
