Adventure of a lifetime

Adventure seeker Michelle Porter is one of 600 crew members chosen out of over 10,000 hopefuls to take part in The Adventure of a Lifetime: The Clipper 13-14 Round the World Yacht Race.
In late July 2013, the Clipper 13-14 Round the World Race will leave the shores of the UK; the race will cover 40,000-miles and visit six continents in 15 stopovers during the eleven-month challenge. During the race Michelle will burn on average 5,000 calories a day and have no more than three hours sleep at any one time as the crew share rotating watch duties - an extreme and enduring physical and mental challenge.
Michelle, who works full time at a global advertising agency Y&R/Wunderman, gets up at 5:30 to train at the gym, works until 6 or 7pm and then spends any spare time on maximising her fundraising.
Michelle says:
'Taking on the challenge of this race is one thing, but I'm not simply doing this for personal achievement, I'm also raising awareness and funds for a charity very close to my heart; Alzheimer's Society'.
Michelle is hoping to raise as much as possible for Alzheimer's Society and has a target of £20,000 through corporate sponsorship and personal donations.
