Swansea land registry staff run for Alzheimer's Society

Land registry staff who took part in the Swansea Bay 10K run in September have raised over £350 for Alzheimer’s Society.

Pictured are colleagues Kelly Gough, Adrian Demoulpied, Paul Morgan and Bethan Morris, who decided to run in aid of Alzheimer's Society, after family members had been affected by dementia.

The run took place along the picturesque waterfront of Swansea bay, treating the participants to stunning beach views as they looped down and around the road heading towards Mumbles.

Paul Morgan, who organised the team, said:

'I wanted to participate in the 10K race and raise money for charity. I decided to run for Alzheimer's Society as my family have been affected by dementia and also my wife works for the Society, so I wanted to help her raise awareness.'

Paul's enthusiasm soon rubbed off on people and before long he had a whole team of runners helping with his fundraising efforts.

Paul explained:

'I told a few colleagues in work that I was running for Alzheimer's Society and one said that he would like to run as well, as his wife's father had died from Alzheimer's. I will be definitely be running the 10K in Swansea again next year, as it is an excellent way of keeping fit and healthy and raising money for a worthwhile charity.'

We would like to congratulate all the runners for their efforts in helping the Society support people with dementia and their carers, and encouraging anyone interested in completing a running event to consider doing so in aid of Alzheimer's Society.

If you would like to put your running shoes on for the Society, there are plenty of opportunities coming up in 2012, including the Swansea Bay 10k, Cardiff Half Marathon or Cardiff Fun Run. See our South Wales fundraising event listings for more details.
