Fans of guitar legend Glen Campbell are helping support people with dementia by donating generously during his UK tour.

The singer, who revealed he is living with dementia last year, allowed volunteers from Alzheimer's Society to collect at several of his recent UK performances, bringing in a total of £4,432.69.

Fans in Brighton handed over a whopping £912. They were followed by Guildford with £780, Nottingham with £655, Bristol with £605.29, York with £592.18, Plymouth with £514.53 and Birmingham with £373.69. Money raised will help support people with dementia and their carers in the local area.

Jeremy Hughes, Alzheimer's Society Chief Executive said:

'On behalf of everyone at Alzheimer's Society I would like to thank Glen's generous fans for their kind donations, as well as Glen himself for allowing us to collect at his gigs. We are all full of admiration for Glen not only for his music but for his bravery in telling the world about his diagnosis.

Glen has already done so much to reduce the stigma of dementia, but this will directly help people living with the condition wherever they live.'
