Did your MP support our campaign for access to drugs?

Did your MP sign EDM 2766?

In October 2006 MPs tabled an Early Day Parliamentary Motion (EDM) in the House of Commons calling on the government to ensure that people with dementia who could benefit from treatment with Alzheimer's drugs on the NHS continue to do so in future.

This important parliamentary motion urged the Health Secretary Patricia Hewitt to act to ensure that doctors could continue to use their clinical judgement to prescribe effective Alzheimer's drug treatments to those who could benefit.

Latest

The response was fantastic. EDM 2766 received 126 signatures in response to supporters contacting MPs and urging them to sign up.

However, the opportunity for MPs to add their support to EDM 2766 has now ended because we have now entered a new parliamentary session.

Action

The EDM is an excellent way of gauging which MPs support the campaign for access to Alzheimer's drugs

If you don't see your MP's name on the list of those who signed the EDM write to them and ask them where they stand on the access to dementia drugs issue.

Tell them that the Department of Health needs to ensure people in the early and late stages of Alzheimer's Disease have access to drug treatments on the NHS.

Make sure that they represent this view to the Secretary of State for Health on your behalf.

Also ask them to write to your local Primary Care Trust urging them to put funding in place to ensure that people with dementia who can benefit from treatment with Alzheimer's drugs continue to do so in the future.

It is essential that we continue contacting MPs on this issue.
