Brecon Town Mayor Cllr Paul Ashton has kindly chosen Alzheimer's Society as his charity of the year. This Christmas Brecon will play host to several Alzheimer's fundraising events, and we'd like to thank the mayor and the people of Brecon Town for their contribution to the fight against dementia.
Fundraising events include:
Christmas Street Collection - 26 November, Brecon Town Centre, 3.30 p.m. - To coincide with the Brecon Christmas Lights switch-on and carol service, there will be a street collection in aid of Alzheimer's Society throughout the day.
Mayor's Charity Christmas Coffee Morning - 2 December, Guildhall, Brecon 10.00 a.m. - Come along for a mince pie and some festive fun!
Brecon cathedral have also kindly agreed to decorate one of their Christmas Trees in Alzheimer's Society blue from the 8 -12 December. People will be able to decorate the tree with 'memory stars' to commemorate a loved one in return for a small donation in aid of the Society. There will also be an Alzheimer's Society display featuring information about dementia and the services the society offers in Wales.
