Alzheimer’s Society wishes Glen Campbell best of luck for UK tour

Published 14 October 2011

Alzheimer’s Society has wished guitar legend Glen Campbell the very best of luck for the UK leg of his farewell tour, which starts this month.

The singer and guitarist has enjoyed more than 50 years as one of the world's greatest performers. As a member of the Wrecking Crew he helped write songs like You've Lost that Loving Feelin', Strangers in the Night and Viva Las Vegas. In June this year he revealed he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and that this would be his final tour. He is one of a number of high profile figures to speak out about living with dementia.

Jeremy Hughes, Alzheimer's Society chief executive said:

'We are all full of admiration for Mr Campbell not only for his music but for his bravery in telling the world about his diagnosis. By being so open he will help to reduce the stigma surrounding Alzheimer's disease for millions of people around the world.'

On behalf of Alzheimer's Society I would like to wish him the very best of luck for his forthcoming tour.'

Glen Campbell will be playing with his wife Kim and children Cal, Shannon and Ashley on the tour, which will be the last before he retires from the public eye. The tour begins in Salford on October 21st. To view all the tour dates visit www.glencampbellmusic.com/tour
