Thank you to all our Memory Walkers

This year’s Memory Walks are at an end, but what a year it’s been. Partnered this year by Bupa, we had more walks and walkers than ever before.

Everyone involved helped to create greater awareness of the disease, raise money for the Society and remember those affected by dementia.

Thousands of people across the country came out and joined their local Memory Walk and we want to say a massive thank you to all of them as well as the many volunteers who helped to make all the events such a success.

A host of our celebrity supporters also put on their walking boots for Memory Walk this year.

This Morning presenter and Society ambassador Ruth Langsford kicked things off with the launch of Memory Walk. We also had support from Oscar-winning writer Julian Fellowes in Cambridge, Bafta Award-winning actress Vicky McClure in Nottingham and kids' TV presenter Richard McCourt in York.

Emmerdale stars Charlie Hardwick and Adele Silva took part in the Tyneside and London walks, respectively, and FA Cup-winning football manager Lawrie McMenemy started the Winchester walk.

Journalist and Loose Women presenter Janet Street-Porter started the Whitstable Memory Walk, author Susan Lewis attended the walk in Gloucester and BBC presenters Sarah Travers and Mary Rhodes started their local walks in Northern Ireland and Birmingham, respectively.
