Santander Ball

A star-studded evening organised by Santander raised a glittering £117,000 for the bank’s charity of the year, Alzheimer’s Society.

The ball, held at the prestigious Royal Courts of Justice on Wednesday, September 21, raised vital funds to help people living with dementia and their carers.

More than 500 guests joined celebrities including ITV's This Morning presenter Ruth Langsford, and former Emmerdale star Adele Silva.

Bargain Hunt auctioneer Charles Hanson led a live auction, giving guests the chance to bid for McLaren memorabilia and holidays. There was also a sports auction for prizes including a COPA America football signed by legendary Brazilian footballer 'Pelé', and a visit to the McLaren Technology Centre. Guests also tried their luck in a prize draw to win a flawless diamond ring, donated by an Alzheimer's Society supporter.

The money raised will go towards Santander's national fundraising target of £450,000 to support Alzheimer's Society's online forum, Talking Point. The forum provides advice, information and support for anyone affected by dementia.

Jeremy Hughes, Chief Executive at Alzheimer's Society, said:

'I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped organise this fantastic event. Not only did everyone have a tremendously enjoyable evening, the money raised will help us champion the rights of people living with dementia and the millions of people who care for them.'

Sheralee Morris, Santander's Community Manager said:

'Since we launched our Charity of the Year partnership with Alzheimer's Society in January our staff have taken part in a whole host of events, from Three Peaks and Kilimanjaro challenges to karting and dress down days. This has raised a tremendous £250,000 to date.

'To complement their efforts we introduced a corporate hospitality ball into our fundraising calendar. Not only was it a fantastic evening, with the help of our major clients and business partners we have been able to add to our impressive fundraising total.'
