Alzheimer's Society Dementia Helpline

If you have concerns about Alzheimer's disease or about any other form of dementia, Alzheimer's Society Dementia Helpline can provide information, support, guidance and referrals to other appropriate organisations.

Callers speak to trained helpline advisers. Calls to the helpline are confidential and callers do not have to give their name.

BT landline calls to 0845 numbers cost no more than 4 pence per minute; calls made from mobiles usually cost more. The helpline is usually open from 8.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday. However the service may be closed occasionally during these times for operational reasons or because of staff shortage.

Call Alzheimer's Society Dementia Helpline on 0845 300 0336.

Please note helpline calls are occasionally monitored for training and evaluation purposes.

How can we help?

Here are a few examples of the kinds of things the helpline advisers can help with:

  • How to get practical help caring for someone with dementia
  • Someone to talk to if you are having a 'bad' day caring for someone with dementia
  • Information about drugs, benefits or lasting powers of attorney
  • Talking through ideas on how to look after someone with dementia

Please note that, whilst we are happy to receive written and email enquiries from anywhere, we can only provide information from the perspective of England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
