A personal perspective

Malcolm Pointon, who died in February, had advanced Alzheimer's disease. When his wife, Barbara, was told that the 24-hour, seven-day-a-week care he needs was not nursing care and that her local health authority would not contribute to it, she decided to complain to the health service ombudsman.
