Welcome to our world: a collection of life writing by people living with dementia by Kent and Medway Forget-Me-Nots

This collection was produced through an innovative creative writing group supported by Alzheimer's Society, which aimed to produce something tangible to share with family and friends. However once writing sessions began it became apparent that they could realistically publish a book for a wider audience.

The book introduces readers to eight wonderful, lively people with dementia, each with fascinating stories to tell. Some will make you smile or laugh aloud while others are darker, thought-provoking and even painful.

One of the most memorable is an account of the night of the great storm in 1987 by lifeboat man Chris, who risked his life in the Channel to save others.

It's an uplifting read, with stories that stay in the memory, and a testament to what people with dementia can achieve.

Forget-Me-Nots (2014), £5 plus postage, ISBN: 9780993074202, from alzheimers.org.uk/shop and elsewhere.
