Trans Pennine Challenge Itinerary
100km across the Pennines. From city centres to national parks, trek past historic towns, amid the most dramatic of landscapes. Through day and night you'll edge closer to the finish line, on a trail that's testing, but highly achievable. With surfaced paths, largely spacious and flat, you'll enjoy the challenge that lies on the Pennines Trail. Journeying across the Pennines from the urban landscape of Manchester alongside winding riverside paths, on through the Peak District to Penistone at the 50km midpoint; then to Sheffield and the Don Valley Stadium 100km finish line
Checkpoints
No matter which route you choose, there will be well deserved rest stops every 12.5km, with major stops every 25km. Here, you'll have the chance to rest and replenish, as we provide snacks and energy drinks or gels to help you on your way. For the major stops, there is a vast array of hot meals available, so indulge in a hard earned feast on your way to finishing the challenge!
Route Signage and Mapping
Throughout your challenge, you'll have clear signage and indicators to ensure you always know the way. In your pre-event packs you'll receive detailed route maps, as well as a downloadable GPX route. For our 100km challengers, as the sun begins to set and the light fades, you'll be well equipped with headlights and glow sticks. Our reflective signage won't be missed, nor will the high visibility jackets. We ensure that you'll always be confident in your direction, during both day and night.
