Judy Holt

Biography

Judy Holt is a British television actress best known for her role as Elaine Fishwick in At Home with the Braithwaites. More recently she played the part of Lesley Kershaw in the UK soap Coronation Street.

Judy's support of the Society stemmed from playing the part of Lesley, who had Alzheimer's. Her co-stars, Tony Hirst and Sue Cleaver, were also involved in the dementia storyline and subsequently pledged their support of Alzheimer's Society.

'Alzheimer's is like the Big C used to be - you didn't talk about cancer. Now we don't talk about dementia, but we should do, rather than feel embarrassed and try to ignore what's happening.

'While watching Corrie a man turned to his wife when he saw Lesley's experience of Alzheimer's and said 'that's me.' He was able to say there was something wrong and was then in a position to access help.'
