ADI 2012 Alzheimer's conference - London

Alzheimer's Society UK was delighted to co-host the 27th International Conference of Alzheimer's Disease International, 7-10 March 2012 at ExCeL London.

Logog for the annual Alzheimer's Disease International Conference 2012The ADI 2012 conference, which took place at the ExCeL centre in London from 7-10 March 2012, was an outstanding success. Over 1,600 delegates attended and the feedback from them on the content of the conference has been excellent. The contributions made by Professor Peter Piot and Sir Terry Pratchett at the opening ceremony were very well received and the plenary session devoted to the portrayal of dementia in the mass media was described, by the director of ADI, as a 'landmark debate'.

Attendees ranged through doctors, researchers, carers, members of Alzheimer's support organisations, opinion formers and persons living with dementia. The huge range of sessions ensured that everyone's interests were catered for. Of particular note this year was the much larger number of people living with dementia who attended and the five parallel sessions chosen by, chaired and presented by them. The reaction to that stream of meetings has been remarkable and we are proud that it was such an important part of the conference.

The 28th International Conference of Alzheimer's Disease International will  be held in Taipei, Taiwan. The theme "Dementia: Action for Global Change" is very relevant to us now as we press for dementia to be made a global health priority.  For further information on registration and abstract submission please visit the conference website at www.adi2013.org
