Putting care right - campaign overview

Person with dementia and their son

Alzheimer's Society's Putting Care Right campaign aims to improve the quality of care  that people with dementia receive in hospitals, in care homes and at home.

Dementia is a major issue facing health and social care providers. Many people are not receiving the quality of care they deserve.

What is Alzheimer's Society doing?

Alzheimer's Society campaigns to improve the quality of care for people with dementia by:

  • Providing evidence on the current state of dementia care
  • Influencing the people who can make a difference
  • Creating tools that can help people with dementia and their families.

Care in care homes

Care in hospital

  • Our report Counting the cost of dementia: caring for people with dementia on hospital wards revealed a huge variation in the quality of care people receive while on a general ward
  • It also highlighted the impact of poor care on peoples' lives, and the cost to the NHS
  • We produced This is me, a tool to help people with dementia and their families while they are in hospital

Care at home
