Political developments

One of the ways that Alzheimer's Society tries to bring about positive change for people with dementia is by working with elected officials and responding to consultations.

 

Policy responses

Alzheimer's Society responds to relevant consultation documents from government in Westminster, Wales and Northern Ireland as well as other national bodies around the UK, to ensure that the voice of people with dementia and their carers is influencing change in public policy. Working with elected officials

One of the way ways that we engage with elected officials is through the All Party Parliamentary Group in Westminster. The purpose of the group is to raise awareness of dementia amongst parliamentarians and to influence legislation and policy making with the aim of improving the lives of people with dementia and their carers. Alzheimer's Society has recently helped to establish a Cross Party Group in the Welsh Assembly. We hope that this group will play a key role in building consensus around the way that dementia care is provided in Wales.
