Campaign and media groups
Alzheimer's Society has campaign and media groups throughout the UK. Our groups work to influence local decision makers and elected representatives in a number of ways. Amongst other things, they:
- Take action on Alzheimer's Society's key campaigns
- Build relationships with local elected representatives
- Work with individual hospitals or care providers to improve best practice
- Build relationships with Commissioners to improve the quality of care provided in the local area
- Campaign on specific local issues, such as service cuts
- Write to local newspapers to highlight local issues
Each local group is different depending on the nation, region and the specific local issues, but all work towards improving the lives of people with dementia and their families. Our volunteers receive support, training and resources to help bring about change in their community.
Through the Campaigners' Network we really can make a difference - but we need more volunteers to support our fight against dementia. If you think people with dementia deserve a better deal, are looking to share your skills or maybe develop new ones, we would like to hear from you.
Please email campaignersnetwork@alzheimers.org.uk with details about where you live. We will put you in touch with staff and volunteers who can tell you about opportunities in your area.
